ær'd writing guidelines
We’re looking for relatively short opinion-based writing or personal essays that discuss any topic you feel is worthy of public inquiry or attention. There is no style guide, but we do ask that pieces generally do not exceed two pages in length. Please feel free to take risks in your writing, we want ær'd to be an opportunity to practice and grow as an opinion-based/essay writer. All work will be reviewed by editors prior to publication and you will receive a confirmation of publishing status.
We are very open to a wide range of subject matter, however, if your work contains any of the following, we will not publish it.
Irrelevant discussion of interpersonal relationships (ex. My boyfriend is stupid and so I broke up with him.)
Hate speech or symbols
Singling-out individuals in a negative context
Writing with clear intent to harm
Advertisements or personal marketing
Anonymous submissions (if you don't want your name attached, you probably shouldn't be saying it so publicly)
All work should be submitted by the deadline given on the submission form, usually 11:59 pm on the Wednesday before publishing. This gives you and the editors adequate time to make any necessary changes before publishing.
Once received, editors will re-format your submission and make small grammatical edits. Any larger changes will not be made to the content of your writing without your consent. Thank you for writing!
